Designed in celebration of the Bach 50th anniversary of production in Elkhart, Indiana – the new Bach 50th Anniversary models are a throw-back to the vintage Bach’s made in Mt. Vernon, New York. Bach Stradivarius trumpets have been the world’s most recognized, most played on and most respected professional trumpets. The Bach 50th uses a vintage, time proven traditional design to give players a true, professional trumpet that can go anywhere and play anything!
True Bach
Back in 2007, Bach’s parent company, Conn-Selmer, decided to return back to the older, traditional manufacturing techniques and methods. They returned to original designs used by Vincent Bach and crafting techniques used back in Mt. Vernon in order to return the Bach to it’s rightful place as the world’s finest professional trumpet. The new Bach 190S 50th Anniversary models take it the next step further.

Hand-Selected by Bach Artist
Bach occasionally will have their artists hand-select trumpets that can be offered to the public. In this case, we have 3 of the Bach 50th Anniversary 190S-37 that have been hand-selected by Dr. Mark Ponzo. There is no additional charge for these artist selected horns. Each comes with a signature card from the artist who selected them.
Mark Ponzo holds the Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music with the Performer’s Certificate. Dr. Ponzo is a Full Professor at Northern Illinois University, where he joined the faculty in 1990. Mark is Solo Cornet with The New Sousa Band and Illinois Brass Band as well as Principal Trumpet of the Fox Valley Orchestra and Antiqua Baroque Consort. He has been a member of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Mexico City Philharmonic, and Syracuse Symphony Orchestra.
Mark has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Music of the Baroque, Elgin Symphony, Chicago Brass Quintet, Illinois Chamber Symphony, Chicago Sinfonietta, Northwest Indiana Philharmonic, New Philharmonic, Illinois Philharmonic, Millar Brass and Light Opera Works.
He has been a featured soloist with The Music of the Baroque, Elgin Symphony, The New Sousa Band, Southern Tier Symphony, Wheaton Municipal Band, Fox Valley Orchestra, Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra, Kishwaukee Symphony, Illinois Brass Band as well as the NIU Philharmonic, Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony. Mark has presented recitals for the International Trumpet Guild, Historic Brass Society and the Interlochen Arts Academy. Playing an average of 40 recitals each year, he has performed at most of the Nation’s finest Music Schools.

Bach 190S 50th Anniversary
The Bach 50th Anniversary models are a throw-back to the vintage Mt. Vernon Bachs. These models us the 2 piece valve casings with nickel-silver upper balusters, vintage style wider S brace feet & use the “side seam” bell rotation like the old models did.
These features (other than the side seam bell) will give the Bach 190S-37 a thicker core to it’s sound compared to a 180S-37.
Bach 180 Series vs. 190 Series
The Bach 190S 50th Anniversary trumpets are built on the new 190 Stradivarius platform. At it’s core, the 190 platform simply refers to the horn’s valve casings.

Bach Screening Process
Bach 50th Anniversary trumpets are made by hand. Even with the improved manufacturing techniques that Bach returned to, this inevitably will create some variance. So with every Bach 50th Anniversary that comes in our shop, Dave Kessler personally inspects every single one. He checks for structural defects, cosmetic defects and assembly defects. The vibration of the instrument to ensure that the trumpet is a responsive horn. If a Bach 190S is assembled poorly, this results in unnecessary stress in the solder joints that actually hinder vibration and in turn, negatively affects the performance of the Bach 190S trumpet. The most important test of the trumpet for Dave is the vibration test. If a horn doesn’t vibrate well itself (outside of even playing the horn), then it will not be a great playing trumpet.
If a Bach that fails ANY of our tests is sent back to Bach, period.
Trial Policy
We go through great lengths to ensure that our Bach 50th Anniversary Stradivarius Trumpets are AMAZING instruments. We are going to send you a Bach 50th Annversary trumpet that is the epitome of what a Bach Stradivarius trumpet should be. You are going to get a great playing trumpet.
However, in the end we are all different people and we all have different needs
You are the final person in our Bach Screening Process!
This is why we give you a trial period. When you get a new Bach 190S from Kessler & Sons Music, it is accompanied by a 3 day evaluation period. Once you receive it, you have 3 days to test the trumpet yourself. If for ANY reason you are not 100% satisfied with it, you simply let us know and you send it back for a refund or exchange, your choice.
