A collaboration between Corrado Giuffredi, Backun and Pomarico was bound to create something magical. The Backun Crystal CG Bass Clarinet Mouthpiece is that magic!

One of the finest performing artists in the world, Italian Clarinetist, Corrado Giuffredi is a master of many musical genres, including: orchestral, chamber music and klezmer. Raised and schooled in the Italian way, Corrado’s mouthpiece of choice is the Backun Crystal CG Bass Clarinet Mouthpiece; a mouthpiece that is custom made Pomarico designed to his exacting specifications. Only a select number of mouthpieces are handmade for Corrado each year, all of which have his name and the Backun name etched in the crystal. The Backun CG Bass Clarinet mouthpieces are individually play tested and picked by Corrado to ensure that his signature mouthpiece meets his signature performance! These are not simply mouthpieces with a different name but rather are mouthpieces that Corrado himself would take on stage!

Tip Opening
The Backun Crystal CG Bass Clarinet mouthpiece is officially a 1.80 mm tip opening. However, this is the measurement on the outside edge of the tip rail. Crystal mouthpieces are often thought of as playing smaller than their tip openings generally would play on hard rubber. Part of the reason behind this is the way that the mouthpieces are faced place the tip rail at an angle relative to the table of the mouthpiece. So while the outside edge of the tip rail is 1.80 mm, the INSIDE edge of the tip rail is closer to 1.65 mm. This gives these mouthpieces an exceptional control like a small mouthpiece but with the added benefit of the bigger tone of the larger tip opening.

Trial / Return Policy

Trial & Return Policy
Kessler & Sons Music offers a 3 day trial / return policy by default on the Backun CrystalCG Bass Clarinet Mouthpiece. There are no cleaning fees or restocking fees (assuming that the item is returned in proper condition).

Before we ship any new Backun CG Bass Clarinet Mouthpiece, we install a blue protective film over the top of the mouthpiece to help protect from irreparable scratches while it is being tested. We also install a tooth patch before shipping. This way you can test the mouthpiece with less fear of damage. However, you can still damage the mouthpiece even with these protections, so make sure to handle it carefully while you are testing it. We recommend leaving these items on the mouthpiece during the testing phase and only to remove them after you have made the decision to keep the mouthpiece. Mouthpieces that are returned with irreparable scratches/marks might not be accepted for return.
