The new Vocalise CG Bass Clarinet Mouthpiece is the continuation of the collaboration between clarinet performance master and mouthpiece maker Richard Hawkins and the clarinet manufacturing experts, Backun Musical Services. Now, the new Vocalise production has been united with the performance characteristics of Maestro Corrado Ciuffredi in the new Vocalise CG Bass Clarinet Mouthpiece!

The mouthpiece was designed by renowned craftsman, Richard Hawkins to replicate the playing characteristics of crystal in a mouthpiece that is machined to unbelievably high tolerances.

Crafted from a proprietary clear synthetic material, the Vocalise CG Bass Clarinet Mouthpiece is an Open Tip with a  Long Facing, while giving players a flexible and vibrant tone. Vocalise CG Mouthpieces are manufactured using the most technologically advanced nine-axis machining available today. For those looking for a mouthpiece that articulates with ease and holds a clear quality of sound at extreme volumes, this model delivers on stage and in the studio.

Tip Opening

Backun has not published the tip opening on the new Vocalise CG mouthpiece, but they show it inside a similar size to a Vandoren B46/B50. We have measured the mouthpiece with a digital guage and show them to be a 2.10 mm on the inside edge of the tip rail, 2.25 mm on the outside edge of the tip rail. This places it right in between the B46 & B50 from Vandoren in relative opening. For comparison, below is Backun’s Mouthpiece Comparison Chart:

Like all Vocalise Mouthpieces, the CG model is exceptionally versatile and adaptable to a wide range of playing styles, and is suitable for both synthetic and cane reeds, alike.

Trial & Return Policy

Kessler & Sons Music offers a 3 day trial / return policy by default on any in stock mouthpiece. There are no cleaning fees or restocking fees (assuming that the item is returned in proper condition).

Before we ship any new mouthpiece, we install a blue protective film over the logo to help protect the logo from irreparable scratches while it is being tested. We also install a tooth patch before shipping. This way you can test the mouthpiece without fear of damage. We recommend leaving these items on the mouthpiece during the testing phase and only to remove them after you have made the decision to keep the mouthpiece.
