Additional Information
Body Design
The 18037 is built on a traditional .459″ Medium Large bore, standard weight body with traditional one-piece valve casings expertly fit to Monel valves.
Bell Design
The standard weight #37 bell taper is the quintessential “Bach Sound”. Known for a great tonal focus and warmth, the #37 bell has become the most commonly used as it offers exceptional versatility for all playing styles. The 18037 bell is hand-hammered from one piece of brass for optimal vibration and resonance.
Leadpipe Design
The 37 bell model Strads tend to pair best with the #25 leadpipe, which has become the standard for this model. This offers the right balance of resistance and response for the 18037 trumpet. Available in two configurations:
-
- Standard #25 Pipe
- Reverse #25R Pipe – available as model 18037R or 180S37R
New Case!
The new Bach Strad case (launched in Summer 2024) is smaller, lighter and has integrated backpack straps. It sill offers a hard shell and ample storage.
Kessler’s Bach Screening Process
Bach trumpets are made by hand. Even with the improved manufacturing techniques that Bach returned to, this inevitably will create some variance. So with every Bach 18037 that comes in our shop, Dave Kessler personally inspects every single one.
He checks for structural defects, cosmetic defects and assembly defects. The vibration of the instrument to ensure that the trumpet is a responsive horn. If a Bach 18037 is assembled poorly, this results in unnecessary stress in the solder joints that actually hinder vibration and in turn, negatively affects the performance of the Bach trumpet.
The most important test of the trumpet for Dave is the vibration test. If a horn doesn’t vibrate well itself (outside of even playing the horn), then it will not be a great playing trumpet.
If a Bach 18037 fails ANY of our tests is sent back to Bach, period.
