Too often players and students need a better intermediate clarinet but simply cannot afford the price range of traditional intermediate clarinet models. This led us to develop a solution for them: a great wood, intermediate clarinet at an affordable price point.

Our Kessler Custom Performance Series Intermediate Clarinet Features:

Wood vs. Hard Rubber
Some intermediate clarinet vendors have started to use hard rubber instead of wood for a variety of reasons. They tout the “resonance” and “durability” of it trying to make you believe that hard rubber is actually better than wood… to be blunt, we disagree. In our opinion, a quality wood is immensely better than hard rubber when designing an intermediate clarinet. It has more mass and produces a richer tone. Hard rubber is less expensive and easier to manufacture with, which makes it a tempting alternative.

We believe that the “easy” way is not the right way when it comes to achieving the best performance from our Kessler Custom intermediate clarinet. We believe that a great piece of wood, like we use, is going to provide you with a better sound AND the stability that you require. Yes it costs us more and takes longer to do right, but it’s worth it because your sound is worth it.

Our Kessler Custom family of clarinets are available in 2 designs: Performance Series & Artist Series. Both are exceptional values but each has their purpose.

Performance Series
The Performance Series is the perfect intermediate clarinet. Simply a solid design with great build quality at an affordable price. It uses a bore more similar to the old Evette Master Model clarinets. This design is less resistant and produces a rich, homogenous tone with excellent response.

Artist Series
Artist Series clarinets use a more professional bore and offer increased resistance for better tonal depth. Younger, less advanced players will tend to prefer the easier bore of the Performance Series, but more advanced players will appreciate the deeper core and mass of the Artist Series. The Artist Series clarinet uses premium wood, upgraded pads and a more advanced bell, barrel & bore.

Every Kessler Custom intermediate clarinet we send out to a customer is not released from us unless it has been completely setup in our shop first. This is because the setup on our intermediate clarinet is of the utmost importance! Sometimes, a clarinet (regardless of who the manufacturer or the price point is) comes in needing 20 minutes of adjustments and then the very next one can require 2 hours!

This is why we perform our setup (in our www.ClarinetRepairs.com ProShop) on your new wood clarinet before delivering it to you.
