I know – why would this type of horn be in a rental pool?! Well, we have had this as one of our rentals for 30 years – starting to rent it in 1995. That was early in our history (we opened in 1989) and the horn came in needing a TON of work but we were able to buy at a price point that made sense for a rental. So we fixed it, and have rented it for about 20 years… then the market shifted. Now, everyone wants to rent a Low A bari and as a result, these Bb bell horns, regardless of how good they are, fell out of favor. So now we are closing out some of that inventory, and this 1965 Bundy Low Bb Bari Sax made in Germany by Keilwerth is a GREAT performance value!

How does it play?

Huge – that’s how it plays. These have a wonderfully rich, big sound that is just that classic Low Bb bari sax “bark”! Yeah, the horn has been through the ringer due to being a rental, but at the end of the day, that is all superficial, cosmetic issues. The horn has never had its body or upper branch severely damaged and still has its original neck – all of which is a miracle for a bari sax rental. Yes, there has been damage to the bell and bow, but it is truly cosmetic and the horn plays like a beast. Plus, it builds character!

The serial number dates to 1965 production according to published online serial number lists for Keilwerth. Includes the case as shown and a student mouthpiece is in the case with it.
