Serial 87,556 – Heavily Buffed Relacquer – Oy!
This horn is a beast. We do not know the history of this horn, only what it is right now. Made in 1960, this horn at some point was rebuilt by someone who loved to use a buffing wheel! That’s because the engraving that was originally so lovely and intricate on these horns is buffed away! There are still hints of the engraving’s existence, but at a glance, you wouldn’t notice! The horn was then re-lacquered with this deep gold colored lacquer. We have a suspicion of who did the work based on these two truths, but there isn’t any point in pointing fingers at them now. Regardless, the horn does play and play pretty well. So if you want a Low A Mark VI Bari on a budget, this is the horn!

Neck & Loop Damage
After the horn was overhauled, it sustained damage to the neck and neck receiver (evidenced by the missing lacquer). The first turn of the lower branch of the neck, at the receiver, is bent slightly inward. That’s why that area of the horn looks a little funky. In the end, it plays as it is and plays well. However, this can be straightened out, but at the risk of burning more lacquer. We would recommend doing it, but it would likely add $200 and since this the ultimate budget bari, we are leaving it as is for the next owner to decide which way to go. Again, this horn plays and plays well, its just a beast… but on a budget!

Case
The case is your traditional shaped woodshell case from the 1980’s / 1990’s and is functional. It is a more “universal” fit case so it isnt going to be a “throw it under the bus” type of case (at least not if you want the bari to survive), but it is functional as long as you don’t drop it. We can ship it safely in the case without any issue.
