The ProShop Overhaul is a full mechanical re-build and includes diamond tone hole leveling. We used a custom black Kangaroo pad with machined brass screw-back resonators. This is a $1,800 overhaul that we have performed on this sax.

ProShop Overhauled
The early history of Selmer tenors is a bit confusing as the primary focus at this time was on the alto sax models. So where in this production era, the altos had already launched as the “Selmer Super Series” (SSS), the tenors were still in experimental transition. This horn is such a horn. As noted by Selmer historian, Douglas Piper, this horn is a “US-market Pre-Super Tenor which shipped from Selmer Paris in July 1931. It would have been lacquered and set up in Elkhart. The Large-Bore Era and SSS Era are rather confusing in that the different types advanced at different times and for different markets”.

Frankly, we don’t have much history to share with you on this horn. What we do know is that it came to us in need of a re-build and a new case. The horn fundamentally was solid without much damage. The lone exception is that the neck was every so slightly bent down. We returned it to its proper position during the overhaul. Other than that, the horn was in great physical shape – and needed a new case, which we gave it.
Case & Mouthpiece
The original case was destroyed. So we replaced it with a Wood-Shell, American made case. The original mouthpiece however is in great playable condition and is included.
