Description

Selmer Paris S80 Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece
New Facing Designs!

Based on the original Soloist design made popular in the 1950’s from Selmer, the modern Selmer Paris Soloist Tenor Sax mouthpiece is one of the most versatile mouthpieces available. With a unique “horseshoe” chamber, the Soloist tenor sax mouthpiece allows for a bigger & richer tone than the traditional S80 model, but can still be controlled easily for symphonic use.

The Soloist tenor mouthpiece is available in the following facing sizes: C*, C**, D, E, F & G – the further down in the alphabet, the larger the tip opening. The most popular are the C* for symphonic preference players and the E for jazz players who want great control and tonal core.

Additional Information

New Facing Designs
Selmer Paris changed all of their facing designs back in approximately 2016, but many websites & facing charts still show the old facing/tip measurements. These changes were to both the tip opening and the facing length. The changes were done to “improve the acoustical response” according to Selmer Paris. The model sizes below are for the current new mouthpiece production. If you would like to read more about the facing design changes, read Dave Kessler’s Blog Post about it here.

Available Sizes
The Soloist tenor sax mouthpiece is available in the following sizes:

- C* – 1.90 mm Tip
- C** – 2.00 mm Tip
- D – 2.10 mm Tip
- E – 2.20 mm Tip
- F – 2.30 mm Tip
- G – 2.40 mm Tip

Compare Old vs New Facings
Here is a handy chart that shows the pre 2012 (which is when they started the redesign) facings vs the new & current facings.

Kessler & Sons Music offers a 3 day trial / return policy by default on Soloist tenor mouthpieces. There are no cleaning fees or restocking fees (assuming that the item is returned in proper condition).

In order to protect the mouthpiece against scratches & marks when testing, we install a tooth patch before shipping. You are responsible for the condition of the mouthpiece while you are testing it. We highly recommend testing with a fabric style ligature to reduce the risk of scratching. Mouthpieces that are returned with irreparable scratches/marks might not be accepted for return.

Please read our terms & conditions (link at the bottom of the page) for full details on this policy.
