Yanagisawa Saxophones are handmade in Japan to the finest standards in the saxophone market! As the largest dealer in the USA for Yanagisawa, we can tell you first hand how exceptional their quality and consistency is. With the best factory level setup in the industry, Yanagisawa Saxes have a model to meet any player’s needs! Alto, Tenor, Soprano and Bari models are configured in different configurations and alloys to offer great versatility and performance for all players!
In 2014, Yanagisawa started revising their model line to the current “WO Series” models that offer a great balance between an open, free blowing horn and a rich tone. Each sax type is offered in 2 model series: the Professional Models and the Elite Models. For the Alto, Tenor & Bari Sax (not the sopranos, more on that later) the Professional Models are designed with a lighter weight construction to increase ease of play and response whereas the Elite Models are designed with a heavier construction to produce a richer core tone. Both model series are available in either Brass or Bronze (darker tone) and Elite Models are also available in several different combinations that use Solid Sterling Silver for enhanced resonance!
Yanagisawa Models
Professional Models
The “Professional Model” Yanagisawa Alto Saxophones feature a lighter weight “single post to body” construction for quick response. This design also helps to produce a free-er blow with decreased resistance.
The Professional Series is available in 2 different alloys: Brass (AWO1) and Bronze (AWO2).
These models replaced the previous A90x based models.
Elite Models
The “Elite Model” Yanagisawa Alto Saxophones feature a heavier “ribbed body” construction yielding greater tonal depth and core.
These models are available in Brass (AWO10), Bronze (AWO20), Solid Silver (AWO37) and various combinations of Brass & Solid Silver (AWO30 & AWO33).
These models replaced the previous A99x based models.

All Yanagisawa Sopranos are Elite!
While Yanagisawa will still refer to the single digit models as “Professional Series” models, ALL of the Yanagisawa models have the same heavier construction of the Elite Series horns. They also all feature the upgrade to the Pisoni Pro pads used int he Elite. So the only real difference in the Yanagisawa soprano sax models is their configuration and alloy.
