Which is better?
Neither really… it’s all a personal preference. The dark gold lacquer has gained in popularity due to it’s unique look that is similar in color to a gold plated trumpet. Dave Kessler prefers the standard lacquer since you can see the various colors of the 3 different metals used in the construction – Brass, Goldbrass & Nickel-Silver.
