Yanagisawa T9933 Solid Silver Series Elite Tenor Sax
Sterling Neck & Bell – Setup like an old King Super 20!
Yanagisawa makes the highest quality professional saxophones on the market today! They are a specialty manufacture of professional handmade saxophones. They are a small factory blending old world craftsmanship with modern design and performance. With the Yanagisawa T9933 tenor sax, Yanagisawa offers a combination of Sterling Silver and Brass that is like what King used to offer on the Silver Sonic Super 20.
Solid Sterling Silver
Yanagisawa uses Solid Sterling Silver (92.5% pure silver, 7.5% copper) for their “Solid Silver” which provides a heavier alloy that also vibrates & responds exceptionally well. This helps the the horn to be a more resonant instrument that offers more tonal presence and versatility. This effectively amplifies whatever is put in to the horn by the player and mouthpiece. So mouthpieces that are dark by nature will be darker, richer & bigger on a Yanagisawa T9933 Tenor. Mouthpieces that are brighter will be edgier, more brilliant and more powerful on a Yanagisawa T9933 Tenor. The basic math is simple, the more Solid Silver used in the horn, the bigger the performance enhancement.
The Yanagisawa T9933 features ribbed body construction for a richer, more complex tone as well as all of the standard features for the Yanagisawa T99x series mechanical improvements such as:
- Connected C#-B roller
- Double arm construction on the Low C & B keys
Unlike the other T99x series horns, on tenor sax models with a Sterling Silver neck, Yanagisawa does not use the underslung octave mechanism. Instead, they use a traditional top mount in order to accommodate a structural reinforcement brace on the underside of the neck to help prevent bending the neck (since Sterling Silver is softer than brass).
Discontinued
The Yanagisawa 9 Series Tenors were discontinued in 2015 and replaced by the current WO Series tenors.
