Vintage Selmer Paris Air Flow Alto Sax Mouthpiece – Scroll Shank C*
Late 1920/1930’s Vintage – Excellent Condition
This is a late 1920/1930’s vintage Selmer Paris Air Flow Alto Sax Mouthpiece: short scroll shank, C* table, hard rubber.
There are light teeth marks from use, but not severe or deep. The mouthpiece has not been buffed, only cleaned using a 50/50 distilled white vinegar / water solution in an ultrasonic machine, and a soft tooth brush to remove calcium deposits.
From Theo Wanne’s Mouthpiece Museum: “In the late 1920s these models lost the metal band and moved to a scroll work band around the shank. The floor became a little higher. They still maintained a very large chamber. The first year of production mouthpieces had a serial number on the side. These all had the tip opening marked on the table. For example: table C.”
This vintage air flow alto mouthpiece does NOT have a serial number on the side. Its shank is the scroll, short shank. This is the larger chamber, so this is pre-1940’s vintage. These vintage air flow alto mouthpieces are impossible to find in this shape!
