The Scott Cao 750E Artist Series violins are available in many historic designs. Our most popular when auditioned in our store is the “Kreisler” model. The “Kreisler” violin obtained it’s name from its most known owner/player, Fritz Kreisler. Made in 1743 by master maker Guarneri del Gesu, the Kreisler violin is a beautiful performer that is known for its exceptional tonal balance. Neither too dark, too bright, too loud or too small; the Kreisler possesses arguably the most even and impressive performance of all the Scott Cao 750E Series models.

About the actual Kreisler
Fritz Kreisler acquired this violin from the Hills in 1926; they had long regarded it as among the finest works of Guarneri’s early years. The violin was described in Hills’1931 opus, The Violin-makers of the Guarneri Family (1626-1762): Their Life and Work. Prior to Kreisler’s acquisition, the violin had an especially colorful history. It was first seized by the French in Madrid and then seized at sea by the English. Next, the violin was owned successively by a parson in Whitehaven; several gentlemen who cherished it throughout their lives–one of whom, William Thompson, marked out his appreciation by branding his initials on the pegbox; and two sisters who guarded it jealously and for many years refused to sell it. Eventually, the violin was bought by the collector John Mountford, who also owned the 1699 “Castelbarco” violin. Mountford kept the “Kreisler” for the rest of his life.

With the onset of World War II, Kreisler and many other European artists found refuge and a new home in the United States. In 1952, he presented this violin to the Library of Congress, showing his gratitude to his new home by this matchless gift.

Desert Aged
Being based in the desert of Las Vegas, we have a very unique ability to let instruments “age”. As string instruments age and the wood dries, the instrument will improve over that time. However, as these instruments dry in our desert climate of Las Vegas, this process of aging occurs much faster than most areas of the country.

This aging gives you an instrument that is more vibrant, responsive and more stable as a result of this aging!

We do make sure to monitor our instruments and make any necessary adjustments that are needed as a result of this process prior to shipping to you.

In Home Trial
Kessler & Sons Music offers a 3 day trial / return policy on the Scott Cao 750E Violin outfit. There are no cleaning fees or restocking fees (assuming that the item is returned in proper condition). We know that you need to be able to test the instrument to make sure that it is the right instrument for you. We carefully package the instrument so that it arrives safely to you.

Please note that when we ship the instrument, we wrap the bridge and the tailpiece in tissue paper so that IF the bridge were to fall down in shipping, no damage occurs to the instrument. We do not ship the violin with strings under full tension but there is enough tension to keep everything in place while in transit. If you do decide to return the violin, please make sure to follow the same guidelines so that the instrument is returned in the same condition it was sent out.
