Martin was one of several saxophone makers in the United States that for decades provided great playing saxophones used by players around the globe. Unfortunately, like most of the American saxophone makers of old, Martin saxophones were beat out in the market by the achievements French, German and later Japanese manufacturers. These saxophones can still provide great performance and in some cases, exceptional performance value. “The Martin Alto”, as engraved on the bell, is sometimes referred to as a Committee III model (as it came after the Committee II model) and represents one of these exceptional performance values.

This saxophone was bought originally to be part of our rental fleet. However, many students do not appreciate these great vintage saxophones due to their “look” compared to more modern saxophones. So this saxophone is instead being offered for sale! We have gone through it in the shop to make sure that it is in performance condition. We have also put it into a lightly used ProTec case. 

This sax came to us with multiple toneholes and braces that had been re-soldered. Some were done well, others were not. On the worst offenders (like the side B and Bb toneholes), we have cleaned up the tonehole work. This horn was also re-lacquered at some point in its life many decades ago, but was done well. More importantly, this horn PLAYS GREAT!

Once you receive this sax, you then have the 3 days to play it and make sure that you love it. If you do not love it, simply let us know and ship it back!!

What’s Included?
There is no mouthpiece/ligature/cap setup included with the sax. We would highly recommend adding something great to accompany this vintage horn! If you would like to discuss a mouthpiece, simply give us a call! Only the sax, case, standard neck strap, swab & cork grease is included with the saxophone.
