The Pearl Piccolo series is most known for the PFP-105E model which features a proprietary “Grenaditte” composite material for the headjoint and the body. This material offers better stability than wood, as it is impervious to temperature & climate fluctuations, yet still possesses a more complex tone than a plastic model.

Headjoint Cuts
Pearl offers 2 different headjoint models for their piccolo. The Wave & the Standard. The wave helps to facilitate more air in to the body of the piccolo thus improving response and overall upper register performance. The Standard cut will require more from the player which generally will give a bit mellower tone, but be more difficult to obtain precise response in the upper range of the piccolo. For most customers, the sacrifice of the slightly brighter tone of the wave headjoint is worth the massive improvement in performance and response, which is why we overwhelming recommend the wave headjoint to our customers.
