Used Selmer Paris Series II Alto Sax – Made in 2020
Jubilee Series II Alto – Gold Lacquer
Additional Series III Neck Included
Series II Alto – the longest running production model in Selmer Paris history!
The Series II alto saxophones are the longest running models in Selmer Paris’ long history… even longer than the Mark VI. Ever wonder why that is??? This is simply because it is the most versatile model in their history. However, when looking at a USED Selmer Series II alto sax, not all are created equal. This is because Selmer has made several changes through the 40+ year history of the model. So when looking at a Used Selmer Series II Alto Sax, you have to screen them a little more. The current iteration of the Series II, the “Jubilee”, is hands down the best that Selmer had ever made.
Jubilee vs Previous Series II Models
The biggest improvement with the Jubilee versions was in the tonehole leveling and padding. Selmer’s leveling of the toneholes was vastly improved with the 2010 Jubilee refresh allowing for a firmer pad, the Pisoni Pro, to become the default pad. This allows for a better feel in the hands, quicker response throughout the sax’s range and better adjustment stability. Other improvements were made including in the mass of the neck to give a better response, but the toneholes & padding were the biggest. This puts a Used Jubilee model in a different class than other Used Selmer Series II Alto Saxes.
About this Horn #N809645
This sax was originally sold brand new by our shop in late 2020. The customer self identifies as a “sax-junky” who just loves to have as many horns as possible. However, that means that eventually, he has to make room in his collection for something else. This horn was a backup to his main horns and he has decided to part with it. It was barely used and is virtually indistinguishable from a brand new horn. There really are no visible scratches or marks that we can find on it! Original case and Selmer S80 C* mouthpiece are included.
Additional Series III Neck
One of our all time favorite Selmer setups is the Series II with a Series III neck. This adds a tone of core, power and response to the darker tone of the Series II. This horn was originally sold with BOTH necks and we are making it part of the package!. This is also great if you use 2 different mouthpieces (classical and jazz) as you can further pair one with a preferred setup to further enhance your performance.

Isn’t the Series II Alto a “Classical Sax”?
While the Series II alto is a marvelous classical players’ saxophone, it is by no means just a “classical sax” but rather much, much more than that. Frankly, we find that the Series II alto is the best “overall” sax that Selmer makes. It is very flexible for any and all styles of music and performance depending on the player and their mouthpiece. Furthermore, the Series II alto is by its general design, the thickest & richest sounding model that Selmer makes. However, it has enhanced versatility to be anything a player needs by simply changing the mouthpiece and if needed, the neck! For example, if you want a brighter, edgier tone with increased projection, simply put on the appropriate mouthpiece and a Selmer Series III Neck!
No matter what your performance preference, it is highly likely that a properly setup Series II Alto will be able to fit your needs!
