1966 Vintage Conn Artist 6M Alto Sax
Excellent Condition – Fully Overhauled
The Conn 6M Alto Sax (also known as the “Artist Model”) was Conn’s professional line of altos. While this was nearing the end of Conn’s saxophone history, with models moving to production in Mexico in the 1970’s, this horn was made in 1966 in Elkhart, Indiana. While these later production Elkhart 6M’s don’t have the same nostalgia and prestige as their earlier “Naked Lady Engraving” counterparts, they were still overall well built, solid horns that maintain much of the earlier 6M tonal essence. Many find the later production models like this to be a bit easier on intonation, but also a hair brighter in tone. Regardless, they are a solid American made horn and this horn is near the end of a legendary era of manufacturing for a historic brand.
About this Conn 6M Alto Sax #H74398
We don’t know anything about the history of previous ownership of the horn. Instead, it came to us in need of an overhaul. The horn was physically in excellent condition with no damage, previous repair or anything of note. The original case was in solid shape as well. The pads were original so we have gone through and overhauled the horn with our “Standard Overhaul” service. This includes a full cleaning, new pads, corks, felts & full regulation. The horn plays as good or better than it did when it was new!

In the end, the only way to know whether or not this is the right horn for you is to play it. This is why Kessler & Sons Music offers a 3 day trial / return policy on instruments. This gives you the chance to test out of the horn (you have to order it and pay for it first of course) in your own environment and with your mouthpiece setup to make sure you love it. If for some reason you are not 100% happy with the horn, you can then send it back for a full refund (less shipping fees)!
