Yamaha 672 Professional French Horn
Kruspe Style | Handmade in Japan
The rich resonance of a traditional, Kruspe style double horn with an extra-large bell that enhances warmth and depth. Designed to evolve playability with luxurious resonance and power, the Yamaha YHR-672 French Horn brings enhanced warmth and depth to all performances through an extra-large bell and traditional wrap. A new leadpipe inspired by the renowned YHR-862 custom model produces rich overtones and maximum expressive freedom..
Nickel-Silver or Yellow Brass?
The Yamaha 672 French Horn is available in either Yellow Brass or Nickel-Silver. Nickel-Silver is more commonly used in traditional American made Kruspe style horns like the Conn 8D and Holton Farkas. Nickel-Silver weighs slightly more than brass, but is also more responsive, helping the horn to have a more brilliant attack and tone while maintaining an expressive, full sound. Nickel-Silver is also more resistant to corrosion. Overall, we prefer the Nickel-Silver, 672N / 672ND models, for all of these reasons.
Fixed or Detachable Bell?
This is more of a personal preference. Most customers will not tell a performance difference between the two, but rather a usability difference. The fixed bell will provide simple use (since you don’t have to assemble your horn each time). However, the detachable bell allows for a case style that is more streamlined. It also allows for more compact, aftermarket cases that make the horn easier to travel with.
Which Should I Get?!
This is obviously a personal question, but for most customers, we recommend the YHR-672ND model. This is the Yamaha 672 French Horn in Nickel-Silver with a Detachable Bell. This is the model that we always keep in stock or on order in the Yamaha 672 Series French Horn. Of course, we can order any of them, but this is our preferred model.
