Yamaha Intermediate Alto Sax Comparison: 300AD vs 480 
This sax is the Yamaha Intermediate Alto Sax from the Advantage Series in the Yamaha line – model YAS-300AD (click here for Yamaha product page). Fundamentally the same instrument acoustic instrument as the standard Yamaha intermediate 480 alto with the only difference in the octave key linkage between the body and the neck. The 300 uses the octave key setup from the student 2xx based models. This student octave key is very reliable, and a bit lighter in weight on the neck affording a bit quicker response. The shorter linkage on the 2xx/300 series horns helps prevent against damage to the octave key in the case when a student forgets to use the end plug. The 480 on the other hand uses the octave key and linkage from the 62. This is a little heavier. The linkage on the 480 also makes it so you can add on a Custom Series neck later on without any modification. The 300AD model can also use that neck, but would require the octave linkage from the body be extended to function with the Custom Series neck.

We are including a NEW Yamaha 4C mouthpiece with the sax rather than a used one. That way you know you are getting a fresh, clean mouthpiece! The horn has also gone through our shop and fully serviced. This instrument will meet the same performance expectations as a new clarinet.

This lightly used Yamaha intermediate alto sax has been completely gone through in our Professional Shop to guarantee that it is in perfect setup and regulation. We also include a 1 year warranty covering pads & adjustments through our shop just like we would with a new Yamaha sax!
