The DURGA tenor has a rich and full contemporary sound.

It has a uniquely designed baffle (part of Theo’s patented interior design) coupled with deeply rounded inner side walls, and a special power version of his True Large Chamber. The power version of the True Large Chamber incorporates a power ring which radically tapers the True Large Chamber down to a small chamber giving it the full sound inherent in our True Large Chamber AND the power of a small chamber.

2nd Generation Chamber Design
The new DURGA tenor models feature an inverted “power ring” design. The 1st Gen models used a power ring that decreased the bore of the chamber drastically before the air column enters the horn. The new 2nd Gen models do the opposite. The new power ring is more appropriately called a “power groove” as it is a grove that increases the bore slightly and then shrinks back down. This concept provides the same type of response due to the creation of a turbulence layer at the groove, but allows for better air flow on the DURGA tenor mouthpiece giving even more power than before!

The secret to the DURGA tenor mouthpiece lies in a uniquely designed baffle coupled with deeply rounded inner side walls and a special power version of Theo’s True Large Chamber incorporating a Power Ring. The Power Ring is set at the back of the chamber that radically tapers the chamber down. This allows the mouthpiece to get all the benefits of our True Large Chamber AND the power inherent in small chamber mouthpieces.
