The Backun Lumiere clarinet is the newest custom model from the custom shop at Backun Musical in Canada. These clarinets are custom hand built in Backun’s shop in Canada and offer unique features and designs not found on other clarinets.

Designed by Morrie Backun, the new Backun Lumiere takes the clarinet to a level of breathtaking clarity and focus from the highest altissimo down through the low register. Less is more, as the Backun Lumiere flaunts European flair with uncompromising intonation and fluidity. These characteristics result in a model that fits beautifully within the line of Backun Custom Clarinets.

Sterling Silver Thumb & Register Tubes
Backun custom solid silver register and thumb tubes are made of a special alloy silver (not the typical sterling silver) that has been custom drawn and hardened to a precise temper. The difference is a profound improvement in resonance and freedom of airflow. Originally an optional feature on the Custom Series Backun clarinets, all of our Lumiere Clarinets are equipped with these Sterling Tubes on the thumb & register standard!

Every Backun Lumiere clarinet we send out to a customer is not released from us unless it has been completely setup in our shop first. Sometimes, a clarinet (regardless of who the manufacturer or the price point is) comes in needing 20 minutes of adjustments and then the very next one can require 2 hours!
