The Selmer Paris Centered Tone Clarinet is one of the most well known clarinets in the company’s long history. Known for its aptly named “centered tone”, these clarinets were the result of 100 years of expertise in clarinet manufacturing. The Selmer Centered Tone is commonly thought of as a “Jazz” clarinet due to the most famous player to support the line, Benny Goodman. However, it is far more than just a jazz clarinet as it’s power, response and projection ability is well suited for all musical styles.

About this Vintage Selmer Centered Tone Clarinet – R5798
This instrument is referred to as a “R Series” model (due to the R in the serial number). The R Series is slightly different than the earlier production models of the Centered Tone. The R Series is immediately after the Q Series where Selmer started to move to the bore & shape utilized in the model that succeeded it, the Series 9 clarinet. This version of the Centered Tone models are known for the power and depth of the Centered Tone models but add in a little more refined response and balance in their performance throughout the registers.

This instrument has never been cracked.
