1950’s Vintage Short Shank Mouthpiece

The vintage Selmer Paris Soloist C* Alto Sax Mouthpiece is one of the most popular vintage mouthpieces in history. Released in the 1950’s, the Soloist has has many generations of design. This particular mouthpiece is out of the 1950’s vintage referred to commonly as the “Short Shank”. This would have been the same model that was included in the first few years of the Mark VI production (pre 1960’s).

This particular short shank Soloist C* is in particularly good condition with it’s original facing. It has a very small nick in the back of the right rail, closer to the loop of the window. This was small but it was enough that it impacted reed seal. So a correction was done on the mouthpiece with 1 “swipe” on 1,000 grit sandpaper to smooth the raised bur and allow the mouthpiece to seal properly. This was done by our in house mouthpiece person. The beak of the mouthpiece has no teeth indentation at all, but some very small scratches from teeth. Nothing major at all.

Kessler & Sons Music offers a 3 day trial / return policy by default on all in stock mouthpieces. This includes this Vintage Selmer Paris Soloist C* Alto Sax Mouthpiece. There are no cleaning fees or restocking fees (assuming that the item is returned in proper condition).

When we ship the mouthpiece, we install a blue protective film over the logo to help protect the logo from scratches, but this does not 100% protect them so you still have to treat it carefully.

We also install a tooth patch before shipping to help prevent damage to the beak of the mouthpiece while you test it out. We recommend leaving these items on the mouthpiece during the testing phase and only to remove them after you have made the decision to keep the mouthpiece.
