1977 Selmer Mark VI Soprano Sax
ProShop Overhauled, Original Condition
The Selmer Mark VI Soprano Sax was part of the most iconic line of saxophones ever made, the Selmer Mark VI lineup. The Mark VI soprano sax had a longer production run than the altos & tenors as Selmer did not replace the Mark VI soprano with a Mark VII. These horns give a powerful core and great response. However, finding one in good condition is difficult. Many times, these horns are in rough shape and commonly have slightly bent body tubes.
Serial 265,028
This particular Mark VI Soprano Sax is serial number 265,028 and is in really solid, original condition. It originally came to us in 2020 in need of an overhaul. We performed the overhaul (as described below) and sold it in March 2020 to a local pro. That pro used it very sparingly as he bought it more on a whim since it was in such great shape. Well, that pro no longer needs a soprano so we are selling it for him!
There are a few areas where a small amount of lacquer has worn and a little bit of acid bleed, but nothing severe. The instrument has also NEVER been damaged and the body tube is perfect. The original case was a wreck and could not be salvaged so we replaced it with a brand new ProTec Case in 2020, and that case has held up great.
ProShop Overhauled in 2020
This horn came to us in need of an overhaul in 2020… but being an Official Selmer Paris ProShop, we treat these horns better than a standard overhaul. Instead, this Mark VI Soprano Sax received our premier “ProShop Overhaul” service (a $1,500.00+ job) so that we could offer someone a horn that BEATS their wildest expectations! In the end, at this price, you are not buying just the horn but the legendary performance associated with it. This overhaul brings the horn to the highest level of mechanical stability and performance. In this overhaul, we seek to maintain the purity of the Selmer Mark VI Soprano performance and combine it with the solidity and response of the finest manufactured saxophones of today. In brief, this job includes:
-
- Complete Mechanical Refit
- Diamond Tone Hole Leveling
- Top Tier Pad Choice (SaxGourmet Black Kangaroo with Metal Domed Resos)
Full details of this job can be found on our SaxophoneRepairs.com website by clicking here. This job takes over 20 hours to complete and runs $1,500+ to perform on to a sax. This service was performed on this Selmer Mark VI Soprano Sax in 2020 and we have completely re-regulated the instrument to ensure that it is in perfect adjustment. The horn was used maybe for 20 hours total after the overhaul, so the pads are still fresh.

Additional Information
We know how personal buying a musical instrument can be. Players have an obvious concern with shipping a saxophone from out of state that you haven’t even had a chance to try. Combine that with the large ticket price of this horn and it’s obvious that many customers can become hesitant about pulling the trigger only to lose out to another buyer because they waited too long. Don’t let that be you!
With this amazing Selmer Mark VI Soprano Sax, we know how to pack it safely so that it arrives to you without issue. Once you receive it, you then have 3 days to evaluate the saxophone in the comfort of your own home to make sure that it is the perfect sax for you. To be blunt, if you get this horn, you are not going to send it back. However, if you are not 100% satisfied with it, you simply let us know within the 3 days and then send it back for a full refund under the terms of our policy (click here for the full policy).
