The Conn Vintage One Flugel Horn was developed for players who preferred tonal sonority over everything else in their Flugel’s performance. Released in 2002 after a year and a half in development with the assistance of over 40 different professional players, the Conn Vintage One Flugel Horn is the epitome of the true artist’s horn.

The tonal inspiration of the Conn Vintage One Flugel Horn was the vintage Couesnon flugels. The design team sought to bring that vintage French flugel tone and combine it with modern intonation and build quality. The end result is the Conn Vintage One Flugel Horn.

Satin Lacquer
The Satin Lacquer finish is a favorite among players. The entire horn is first bead-blasted to give the satin look before it is lacquered. While it may not impact the performance of the horn, it sure is easy on the eyes!

Rose Brass Bell & Branch
The Rose Brass Bell and Branch are at the heart of the luscious tone of the Conn Vintage One Flugel Horn. This heavier alloy increases the mass of the horn leading to it’s darker tone. However, due to the exceptional construction quality and the low impact bracing, the performance response of the horn is not hindered by the heavier alloy as it is with other horns. All Conn Vintage One Flugel Horn models feature this Hand-Hammered One-Piece Rose Brass Bell.

Small Bore
The French made flugels all featured tighter, “small bore” designs which help give them their unique tone. The Conn Vintage One uses a .413″ small bore in order to integrate the quick response and tonal core of those old French flugels in to this amazing horn!
