With over 20 years of experience at companies such as Verne Q. Powell & Wm.S. Haynes, Di Zhao has taken his wealth of experience and poured them in to these wonderful flutes that now bare his name. The Di Zhao Wood Piccolo (DZP201) is an unparalleled performance offering unlike anything else on the market!

At the center of the Di Zhao Wood Piccolo is the professional hand-cut headjoint. This headjoint gives the perfect blend of tonal depth and warmth and combines it with quick response and articulation. Paired with exceptional quality Grenadilla wood, custom ergonomic keywork and excellent intonation, the Di Zhao Wood Piccolo will impress any level of performer!

Headjoint Options
Di Zhao Piccolos are typically found with the Traditional headjoint design. However, Di also offers the more responsive “wave” style embouchure. Di’s wave is the “thin-wall” design with integral lip plate carved in to the wood. This style of headjoint produces quicker response throughout the entire range of the piccolo. We find that most customers prefer the wave design on modern piccolos due to the increase ease of response. However, the wave will tend to slightly brighten the sound as well compared to the traditional design.

So we offer the Di Zhao 201 Wood Piccolo in 3 configurations for your choosing:

• • Traditional Headjoint Only
  • Wave Headjoint Only
  • Both Headjoints

The 2 headjoint combination is not “officially” offered by Di Zhao but we purchase extra headjoints. This way customers can get the setup that they want. The 2 headjoint setup provides additional flexibility for all playing styles.
