Kessler Custom Tenor Saxophones
Kessler Custom as a brand is developed around a singular concept: provide exceptional value at an unrivaled price. We are considered among many circles in the industry as saxophone experts and we have always strived to provide customers with the best values regardless of the brand, price or style that they are looking for. With our Kessler Custom Tenor Saxophones, we have poured every aspect of our philosophy into that goal.
Why Buy a Kessler Custom Tenor?
This is the principal question for many consumers. As stated above, we are trying to provide exceptional value at a lower cost with our Kessler Custom tenor saxophones. We achieve this goal by dealing direct with the customer rather than using the traditional industry model of:
Factory – Distributor – Wholesaler – Retailer – Customer
Much of the cost associated with saxophones is due to the “Distributor – Wholesaler” markup. With our Kessler Custom tenor saxophones, we eliminate all of that markup and allow you the customer to purchase at a MUCH lower price as a result.

More about the Models
Performance Series Tenor
Our Kessler Custom Performance Series tenor sax is NOT a “Student” alto by the standard industry terms. Our Performance Series is designed to provide exceptional performance at a fraction of a cost. Our Performance Series uses the same professional style French bore concept that is used throughout our line all the way up to our “Handmade Series” saxophones.
Single Post to Body Construction
The Performance Series horns use a lighter weight “Single Post to Body” construction (compared to the heavier “Ribbed Body” construction used throughout the rest of the line). This construction style has every post directly soldered on to the body tube which allows for the easiest vibration and helps keep the cost down. This does produce a little lighter and brighter tone, but the saxophone still maintains a great overall tonality due to the professional bore design used on all of our Kessler Custom Tenors.
Standard Series Tenors
Our “Standard Series” is by far our most popular model in our Kessler Custom alto line and are the best overall value in any tenor saxophone on the market! The name “Standard Series” was chosen because these saxophones represent our standard of reference in which to evaluate all other saxophones’ “value” by. Utilizing our professional-style French bore and offering Fully Ribbed Body Construction, these horns offer a wonderfully rich and focused “core” to their sound. These models also feature mother of pearl or abalone finger touches for a more elegant look and feel.
Ribbed Body Construction
The use of a fully “Ribbed Body” construction gives these horns more focus, core and tonal depth. This construction style takes larges groupings of key posts and, unlike the lighter “Single Post to Body” construction, has every post first silver soldered (stronger than basic soldering) directly on to a brass rib and then the entire rib is attached to the body. This adds more mass to the body tube resulting in the richer core tone.
Heavier Neck Receiver
The neck receiver is a larger, machined receiver compared to the Performance Series. This larger receiver is going to add mass at a critical spot on your horn as that connection between neck and body acts as a “node” for the transfer of vibration from the two body tubes. That heavier receiver gives a more secure fit and increased mass to better transfer vibration leading to improved response and a richer tonal core in the upper end of the instrument.
Deluxe Series Tenor
The Deluxe Series tenor is simply a cosmetic variant on the Standard Series (meaning that the play identically to each other). The difference is that the Deluxe Series models are elaborately engraved throughout the entire body, bell & neck. The Deluxe model is the only model that we offer in black nickel plate as to enhance the cosmetic effect of the engraving. These models are then finished off with Abalone pearls to finish off the Deluxe package and is our 2nd best selling Kessler Custom tenor(behind only the Standard Series).

Handmade Series Tenor
Our “Handmade Series” Kessler Custom tenor saxophones are exactly as the name implies: handmade. These saxophones are made to the highest caliber of assembly so as to provide the least amount of assembly stress. This allows for improved vibration that produces increased resonance and response. These models are true professional saxophones but are available at an intermediate price!
Handmade Series Features
Handmade Series saxophones feature several improvements other than just the better assembly. These saxophones all feature:
- Higher End Alloys – 85% Copper Content “Red Brass” or Solid Nickel-Silver
- Pisoni Pro Pads for improved feel, stability and tonal projection
- Highest Quality Blued Needle Springs
- Free Pro Level Mouthpiece Upgrade
