Scott Cao Ex-David 750E Violin
Scott Cao has built an amazing reputation among the finest players and teachers throughout the world. Instruments bearing his name are always of the utmost quality in performance and craftsmanship. The Scott Cao Ex-David 750E Violin is our best selling model in his “Artistic Series” instruments. These instruments are each made in honor of historic violins and violin makers.
As a master luthier himself, Scott works tirelessly in training other luthiers who in turn train the factory workers. This constant push to educate and train the next generation of string luthiers holds true to the world’s finest standards of the trade.
Artistic Series
Scott Cao Artistic Series
The Scott Cao Artistic Series violins are made in tribute to historic violins of the past. Seeking to provide you with an instrument with a hint of the performance character, both in tone and looks, the Artistic Series instruments replicate the dimensions of these famous violins as well as the unique cosmetic elements.
Artistic Series Models – 750, 750E & 850
The 750E is one of 3 models in this level of Cao’s Artistic Series. The difference between these models is the sourcing of the woods used in them. We generally have preferred the 750E as our instrument of choice as it gives you the higher quality wood like the 850 but maintains the affordability of the 750. We have found the European Maple used for the back and sides of the 750E and 850 to be more stable in our desert climate of Las Vegas than the Chinese Maple.
- Scott Cao 750 | Italian Spruce Top with Highly Flamed Chinese Maple Back & Sides
- Scott Cao 750E | Italian Spruce Top with Moderately Flamed Bosnian Maple Back & Sides
- Scott Cao 850 | Select Italian Spruce Top with Highly Flamed Bosnian Maple Back & Sides
Additional Information
Scott Cao Ex-David 750E
The Scott Cao Artist Series violins are available in many historic designs. The “Ex-David” violin is most known for being played by master violinist Jascha Heifetz. Originally named the after its previous owner, Ferdinand David, the Ex-David was purchased by Heifetz in 1922 and was his preferred instrument throughout his playing career. Heifetz left the David violin to the city of San Francisco with the stipulation that the instrument must not become simply a piece of art but rather that the instrument be played on by worthy musicians.
While you might not be able to play on the real Ex-David model yourself, the Cao 750E “Ex-David” might be the next best thing!
Desert Aged
Being based in the desert of Las Vegas, we have a very unique ability to let instruments “age”. As string instruments age and the wood dries, the instrument will improve over that time. However, as these instruments dry in our desert climate of Las Vegas, this process of aging occurs much faster than most areas of the country.
This aging gives you an instrument that is more vibrant, responsive and more stable as a result of this aging!
We do make sure to monitor our instruments and make any necessary adjustments that are needed as a result of this process prior to shipping to you.
In Home Trial
Kessler & Sons Music offers a 3 day trial / return policy on the Scott Cao Ex-David 750E Violin outfit. There are no cleaning fees or restocking fees (assuming that the item is returned in proper condition). We know that you need to be able to test the instrument to make sure that it is the right instrument for you. We carefully package the instrument so that it arrives safely to you.
Please note that when we ship the instrument, we wrap the bridge and the tailpiece in tissue paper so that IF the bridge were to fall down in shipping, no damage occurs to the instrument. We do not ship the violin with strings under full tension but there is enough tension to keep everything in place while in transit. If you do decide to return the violin, please make sure to follow the same guidelines so that the instrument is returned in the same condition it was sent out.
Please read our terms & conditions (link at the bottom of the page) for full details on this policy.
