Teacher Bio
Mr. Jim, as his students call him, is the longest tenured teacher at Kessler & Sons Music and has the largest lesson studio. He holds double master’s in music and music education and was a band director for over 30 years. During that time he was also District Music Coordinator and Director of Jazz studies for Lancaster School District. He was the conductor for Honor Orchestra several years running and conductor for Honor Jazz 28 years in a row. Mr. Lewis has played as a pro in LA and almost everywhere on the Strip including The Producers and Jimmy Castor Bunch. Jim has played Liberace’s house and enjoys performing in the Henderson Symphony. Jim is primarily a reed man but can teach beginners any instrument.

Jim brings truth to the old adage “He’s forgotten more about music than most people know”. Jim’s private students have earned many honors including playing Carnegie hall, winning scholarships, earned 2nd chair in Sound Of America Honor Band (European Tour) and placing in top honor bands and all state. But the biggest testimonial is that ALL of his students emerge better musicians. His excellent teaching methods are tried and true and combined with his expert abilities and the patience of a saint along with simply being a heck of a nice guy and we know you’ll love him as much as we do!

Performs with Nevada Pops, Desert Winds, and was a featured Soloist with the Henderson Symphony
