Teacher Bio
Dr. Greg has been teaching for over four decades, ranging from private music instruction and chamber music coaching to lectures on the history of music at Universities throughout California. In addition to an extensive teaching resume, Dr. Maldonado has performed with various symphonies and orchestras, including: Las Vegas Philharmonic, Fresno Philharmonic, Monterey Symphony, and Reno Philharmonic. He is also an educator with teaching positions including UNLV, CSN, UCLA, USC and Clark County School District. He is the Artistic Director of the Nevada Chamber Orchestra, and has served as conductor of the San Diego Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra, and the Nouveaux Chamber Ballet, and has performed with Vegas City Opera, Opera Las Vegas, Las Vegas Sinfonietta, the Latin Grammys, Frank Sinatra, and Liza Minelli to name a few.
Dr. Greg has also been conductor and coach for Las Vegas Youth Orchestra and a music judge for Los Angeles Music Center Spotlight Awards, Silver State String Competition, and the Southern Utah Performing Arts Festival. Additionally, he is the Southern Chair for Nevada All-State Orchestra.
Greg offers a wealth of knowledge and playing experience not often found with private teachers and while he concentrates on fundamentals you have the opportunity to take advantage of his scholarly familiarity of music history and music theory to really make it a well-rounded experience. Though Greg is serious about making the student a better player AND musician, he does it all with a gentle demeanor and a passion for helping students progress.
