Selmer Paris Artist
Associate Dir Bands @ LVA
Biography
John Seaton serves as Associate Director of Bands at the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts. He has performed multiple times as a substitute with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and has given recitals and performances including multiple NASA Conferences, the U.S. Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium, and the 2012 World Saxophone Congress XVI in St. Andrews, Scotland.
John holds an M.M. in Saxophone Performance with Program Honors from the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University and a B.M. in Music Education, summa cum laude, from the Wright State University School of Music. His primary teachers include Timothy McAllister and Shelley Jagow. John performs exclusively on Selmer Paris saxophones and D’Addario Reserve reeds.
Clinic Philosophy
John’s clinics focus on increasing students’ enjoyment of music by improving their fundamentals and artistry on clarinet and saxophone. Because John believes that the best way to keep students playing is for them to experience success on their instrument, topics such as posture, breath support, articulation, practice strategies, and section playing are frequently discussed.
