Kessler Custom Professional Trumpet
Solid Silver Leadpipe
As a business, we have always sought to provide excellent quality instruments at affordable prices. Many times though, the music industry as a whole does not offer instruments that are both affordable and high quality for the customer’s needs. Professional trumpet models are a great example of this as all of your major professional trumpet models have nearly doubled in price in the last 10 years.
So we teamed with Custom trumpet builder Tony Scodwell to find a solution to the issue. The solution:
Kessler Custom Artist Series Professional Trumpet.
Whatever Trumpet Voodoo that Tony Scodwell and the guys at Kessler’s are doing to these horns is amazing. At this price point, this horn is one of the best horns I have ever played and anybody looking for a professional trumpet for school or work should not think twice about buying one of these horns.
Additional Information
Professional Model – Solid Silver Leadpipe
The leadpipe of a professional trumpet is one of the most acoustically important pieces of the instrument. Any change made here has drastic impacts on the performance and feel of the trumpet as a whole but especially to the response and resonance of the trumpet. So to assist in as quick of a response as possible, we chose to use Solid Sterling Silver (92.5% pure silver) for the leadpipe on our pro series horns. The Sterling Silver pipe provides improved resonance and response to the instrument throughout the whole range. The upper register is bigger and more responsive and the lower register is free-er blowing and sweeter. Everything about our professional silver trumpet is amplified by the Solid Silver leadpipe maximizing your performance!
Professional Model – Bell
The bell used on our Professional Trumpet is a 5″ diameter, Goldbrass alloy with a soldered bead. This bell produces a rich and powerful tone but offers excellent response and projection. Designed to give both sizzle and sweet, this bell is an ideal design for all musical styles and levels. From the high school concert player to the professional pit musician and up to top rate lead jazz player, this bell does it all!
Artist Series Valves
The valves used on our Pro Series trumpets are of the highest quality Stainless Steel valves that we have ever come across. Fit and finish of the valves is absolutely exceptional, providing performance that rivals valves on $4,000+ trumpets and is reliable and durable.
Heavy Valve Section & Copper Stems
All of our Kessler Custom trumpets, including our Pocket & Intermediate models, have heavy top and bottom caps just like the Pro Series horns. However, the Pro Series trumpets also have upgraded solid copper valve stems instead of traditional aluminum. By adding additional mass near the center balance spot of the horn (the valve section), this helps the horn produce a richer tonal core in a way that does not throw off balance in response of the instrument. The heavier stems also assist to improve valve action as the weight of the stem helps in pushing against the spring on the downstroke. The Copper Stems were added in 2023 as another way of further enhancing this concept on the pro models.
Tony Scodwell Inspection & Play Test
There are a lot of models of professional silver trumpet to choose from in the current market. However, most of them are treated like a piece of electronics or a DVD… an item that can be simply grabbed off of the shelf and shipped to the customer. Musical instruments should never be treated in this way. Musical instruments need to be tested and made sure that they are right before they are given to a player. Sadly, most professional trumpet models are not tested and inspected either at the factory or by the music store that sells them. Our trumpets are not treated this way!
Every Kessler Custom Artist Series professional silver trumpet is play tested and inspected by Tony Scodwell. Tony is a master trumpet builder, the maker of Scodwell USA professional custom trumpets. He is a top tier professional player and band leader. He goes over every single Kessler Custom Artist Series professional silver trumpet to make sure that they are amazing instruments before they ever get put in the hands of a player. What other trumpet in this range can make this type of testing claim?

Joseph Durk –
This is one great horn and anyone looking for a new professional model horn should really not overlook this as an option. I recently was in the market for a new B flat trumpet (after 20 years of playing on my old Bach), Dave and all the folks over at Kessler were amazingly patient with me. I am pretty sure that it took me almost a year to find a replacement for the Bach Strad (that My Mother bought from Chuck back when I was just a kid over 20 years ago).
Dave and the guys got me a seemingly countless number of different horns to try and by the end I had narrowed it down to two horns, a Bach ( that was not all that different from the one I was replacing) and the Kessler Custom with the heavy silver plate. Being a creature of habit, I ended up with the Bach BUT the point of this long drawn out review is that I seriously almost replaced my old Bach with this horn.
Whatever Trumpet Voodoo that Tony Scodwell and the guys at Kessler’s are doing to these horns is amazing. At this price point, this horn is one of the best horns I have ever played and anybody looking for a professional trumpet for school or work should not think twice about buying one of these horns.
Do yourself a favor and go try one!!!

I purchased the Kessler Custom Professional Trumpet-Artist Series today from Justin at the Las Vegas west side location. I am new to the trumpet and was looking for a horn to continue to challenge me on my learning adventure. I’ll be 70 this year and was inspired to learn the trumpet last year. I decided I wanted something nicer and professional to continue my journey. I don’t anticipate buying another trumpet in my lifetime. I intended to purchase the Bach Stradivarius 180, but was taken with the Kessler Custom Professional. I only wish I knew who manufactures this horn carrying the Kessler Custom name on it. I enquired of Justin, but was not given an answer. So… bottom line… I’m loving this beautiful instrument. Thank you Kessler & Sons and Justin!

David Kessler –
Art, glad you like the horn! We use a factory in Taiwan called Hoxon Gakki for principle manufacturing (their house brand is CarolBrass). However, please note that these are not “stock” parts used on other horns (some are but others are not). For instance, the sterling silver leadpipe is a custom design on a mandrel designed for Tony Scodwell. Tony then comes in and does custom tweaking and setup on the horns before we release them to the stores for sale. So while the factory does the bulk of the work building the horn, our partnership with Tony is what really brings them home!
