Selmer Paris Muse A Clarinet – Key of A
Play Inspired!
The Selmer Muse A clarinet is the ultimate A clarinet ever made by the historic maker. Featuring the highest level of workmanship & materials with a design that provides excellent response, intonation and tone. Made 100% in France, the Muse A clarinet is the epitome of Selmer clarinet perfection. With the Muse, Selmer has completely re-developed many facets of the clarinet performance to provide players with a truly inspired instrument. Combined with the mechanical and acoustic improvements, the Muse also features two exceptional performance and maintenance design elements that we just have to point out!
Evolution★ System Bore
One of the biggest fears for clarinet players is getting a crack in the instrument. Cracks can often be prevented with diligent care and maintenance, but sometimes they just happen regardless. While cracks can be repaired, it requires a true expert caliber technician to do it well, without permanently changing the performance of the instrument. So Selmer has integrated their “Evolution★” bore system to the Muse clarinet’s upper joint – which is where the majority of cracks occur. In this system, before the toneholes and bore are cut, Selmer injects a special resin into the upper half of the clarinet’s top joint, right about to the point just past the thumb tube. The joint is then manufactured and toneholes cut. This allows this system to be seamless as it is not an “insert” but truly part of the bore.
This bore protection allows Selmer to extend a 10 year warranty on the upper joint against cracks. This helps bring true peace of mind to the investment of your professional clarinet. You can read more about the Evolution System on Selmer’s website by clicking here (opens in a new window).
Low E/F Correction Key Standard
The Selmer Muse A Clarinet comes with the new Low E/F correction key. This is becoming more and more common in the professional clarinet market to offer a Low F correction, but the Selmer Muse offers a more unique approach that addresses both keys. While yes, low F is the bigger offender of the two, low E is also problematic and with this one key (articulated by the right hand thumb), Selmer has found a novel solution to both notes by providing an articulated double vent – one for each note. While this does add some additional mechanical complexity, the result is the best intonation on these notes that we have ever seen on a clarinet, with a (relatively) simple and elegant solution.
