Otto Link Florida Hard Rubber Tenor Sax Mouthpiece
Perfected by Theo Wanne
Otto Link tenor sax mouthpieces have long been the standard for jazz tenor sax players. With a long history of production changes and subsequent sonic changes, the Otto Link sound has evolved into several unique designs. The new Otto Link Florida Hard Rubber Tenor Sax Mouthpiece is known for a brighter tone and edge, without losing the “Link Core”. Even better, as of 2026, all Florida Rubber Models have transitioned to being perfected by Theo Wanne in the new Otto Link / Theo Wanne partnership!
Who is Theo Wanne?
For those who are not familiar with Theo, he is considered by most as the preeminent mouthpiece maker in the world. With unique designs and state of the art machines, Theo builds the world’s highest quality mouthpieces on the market. So when JJ Babbitt (the makers of Otto Link) sought to improve the Otto Link tenor sax mouthpiece line, they reached out to Theo for the collaboration that will redefine the sax mouthpiece market.
4 Models – One Soul
The new lineup of Otto Link / Theo Wanne rubber tenor mouthpieces include four models that all retain the Otto Link “core” to their sound, but with unique baffles, chambers and facings to produce your best sound. These models are:
- New York – Based on the original New York “Tone Master” – lowest baffle, large chamber – dark, mellow tone.
- Tone Edge – The iconic Otto Link core sound meets modern response.
- Florida – Higher roll over baffle for a brighter edge than the Super Tone Master.
- LA – An all new design with a smaller chamber and the highest baffle for the most projection and attack, but a brighter sound.
Why Choose the Florida Model?
The Otto Link Florida model by Theo Wanne produces a rich core with exceptional response. While all of the models offer great performance due to Theo’s influence, the Florida model remains the most popular of the designs for most players due to this balanced approach. For most players, the Florida Wanne model will keep all of the color of sound that they seek, but with that attack and punch that is unique to the Florida series Links!
Manufacturing Details
Step One – Molded at Babbitt
These new models will retain their core “Otto Link Sound”. The mouthpieces will start their production at Babbitt using their traditional molding techniques, original molds and their proprietary hard rubber formulation. This effectively creates a “mouthpiece blank” that is then sent to Theo Wanne.
Step Two – Perfected by Theo Wanne
At Theo’s facility in Washington, the Otto Link blank is finished on Theo’s high end CNC machines where all of the fine details of the mouthpiece will be carved to perfection. The tip opening, side rails, baffle, reed window and table will be machined by Theo’s machines. These new models will also have a perfectly flat table instead of a concave table. This improves reed seal as well as performance with a larger selection of reeds, including synthetics.
Step Three – Finishing & Buffing at Babbitt
These machine finished blanks then go back to Babbitt where the final buffing and finishing is completed. The Babbitt team working on these mouthpieces has been trained by Theo and his team for a new exacting standard of finishing. This retains the traditional Otto Link “look” combined with the machining perfection of the machining.
This combination will give players the Link mouthpiece sound with the reliability and consistency that can only be produced by Theo Wanne! This consistency will allow players to no longer have to test through large selections of mouthpieces to find “the right one” – instead they will ALL be that great mouthpiece right out of the box!

Trial & Return
Kessler & Sons Music offers a 3 day trial / return policy by default on all in stock mouthpieces. There are no cleaning fees or restocking fees (assuming that the item is returned in proper condition).
In order to protect the mouthpiece against scratches & marks when testing, we install a tooth patch before shipping. You are responsible for the condition of the mouthpiece while you are testing it. We highly recommend testing with a fabric style ligature to reduce the risk of scratching. Mouthpieces that are returned with irreparable scratches/marks might not be accepted for return.
