Vintage H.Couf Superba I Alto Sax
Made by Keilwerth
The H. Couf brand was made by Keilwerth for the Armstrong company back between 1968 – 1983. These instruments were handmade in Germany. Available in either a Superba I or Superba II, the fundamental sax was the same but the Superba I was the “pro” model with the most features. The Couf Superba I Alto Sax featured the additional rolled tone holes that the II did not.
About this Sax #76050
We unfortunately do not know the full history of this sax other than it has been re-lacquered at some point in its life. The re-lacquer was done quite well with most people having to really look hard to find the evidence of the re-lacquer. Whomever did it did a good job. The horn was overhauled at that time but again, we do not know by whom. However, what we do know is that the horn has never seen serious damage in its life. There have been some small dents in the bow of the sax that were removed, and some minor dings like most vintage horns have, none of them are major or performance impacting.
The neck is the original, matched serial number neck. We have fully gone through the horn in our shop to make sure that it is in good working order.
The original case is included. No mouthpiece.
