We have continued to refine the Kessler Custom platform with significant upgrades to ensure it remains the market leader in performance value. Some of the notable improvements since the 2nd Gen platform launched include:

• Enhanced “Gen 2 Plus” Setup: (Standard since January of 2022) We refined our setup process to specifically target the voicing across the break. While this process is more labor-intensive for our technicians, it ensures your instrument offers professional stability and response immediately out of the case.
• Custom Alloy Neck: (Standard since January of 2023) We upgraded to a new neck design featuring a specific alloy blend chosen for its acoustic properties. This heavier-mass neck produces a richer core tone and significantly improves clarity in the upper register. This neck is exclusive to Kessler Custom bass clarinets and is not found on any other model on the market.
• Premium Protection: (Standard since January of 2023) We ditched the generic “student” case for a custom-designed, professional-grade case. It offers superior impact protection and storage, so you can transport your instrument with pride and peace of mind. While other brands have since adopted this case style, we were the first to bring it to market, setting the new standard for protection.

Unlike competitors who have raised prices significantly over the last few years, we have maintained our commitment to affordability. We have no plans to change that. Even after the tariff instability of 2025, we fought to keep our increases as small as possible, absorbing much of them ourselves. As tariffs came down, so did our price to customers. Our 2nd Gen Kessler Custom Bass Clarinet family has grown! We now offer four distinct models that all share the same ‘Gen 2’ professional acoustic design. From the standard Low Eb & Low C models to our striking new Midnight Series, you can now choose the instrument that perfectly matches both your musical requirements and your personal style.

All four models share the same synthetic material, upgraded case design, and our heavy-mass rose brass neck (underneath the respective finish option of each model). Now you simply have to decide which configuration suits you best: Low Eb or Low C? Standard finish or Midnight Series? You can even opt for the truly unique Midnight Rose model with its exclusive heavier rose brass bell! Either way, you get an instrument that excels at a price point you can afford.

The mouthpiece and ligature are the “engine” of your instrument – crucial for overall performance. Instead of inflating the price with a generic stock mouthpiece you will likely replace, we give you the freedom to choose the professional setup that is right for you immediately.

You can bundle and save on a wide array of top-tier mouthpieces from Backun, Fobes, Selmer Paris & Vandoren as well as various performance ligatures to ensure your new bass clarinet plays its best from the very first note.
