Additional Information
High E-Facilitator vs. Split E Mechanism
Both of these options assist flutists with high E. Generally, we recommend to customers to use the High E Facilitator whenever the option is available (which is what this flute is equipped with). This mechanism is inserted in to the 2nd G tonehole and assists in response on high E without the need for any additional key mechanism.
While a Split E mechanism (only available on Off-Set G models from Powell) also assists on this note, we find that it adds more mechanical complexity to the flute, thus allowing for the potential of more adjustment issues. This used Powell Handmade Conservatory is setup as an inline G with the High E Facilitator giving the player the performance assistance without the risk of adjustment issues or the added cost of the split E.
Straubinger Pads
This flute is setup with authentic Straubinger pads (the new Conservatory Series has switched to the Pisoni S-2 for a cost savings). The Straubinger pads are the highest level pad in the industry and bring out the most performance potential from the flute. Straubinger pads require a significantly more skilled and trained technician in order to adjust and regulate the flute. Kessler & Sons Music is a Straubinger Certified shop and has fully trained technicians who have been trained how to properly handle and work on professional flutes and the higher end pads associated with them.
