Braided Carbon Graphite – Natural Horsehair – Ebony Frog
Your bow is almost as important as the instrument that you play it on. Many times, players use a bow that is not up to the same standards as the instrument that they rely on to produce the sound that is to be an extension of their soul. However, the gap that has commonly existed between student bows and performance bows in price has long been too cumbersome for many players on a budget to bridge. The Core 200 Series Braided Carbon Graphite Bow is the perfect solution to this issue! Available in Violin, Viola and Cello, this marvelous bow is expertly crafted and balanced to help produce even tonal projection, quick response and exceptional balance while staying within an affordable price range!
Additional Information
Braided Carbon Graphite
For centuries, wood has been the material of choice for bows. However, due to increasing demand, diminishing supply and natural inconsistencies both in quality and stability, another material had to be considered for use in bows. For decades, fiberglass became the cheaper performance alternative. Ideal for student bows due to cost and stability, the tonal performance of fiberglass left much to be desired. Around the turn of the 20th century, makers started to experiment with Carbon Graphite. This compound was lightweight, extremely manufacturing friendly and offered better power to weight ratios than fiberglass. The downside is that the powdered material was limited in its ability to produce exception balance, a trait that is a must in a great bow.
Eventually, manufacturers started switching to Carbon Fiber. These fibers were made from Carbon Graphite but as they were no longer in a powdered form, they allow manufacturers to braid or weave strands in to patterns that could provide a better weight balance and improved strength. Today, all of the high end synthetic bows are made from this braided carbon graphite bow concept. Their downside has largely been the price to performance ratio. Many braided carbon graphite bows of performance quality are out of the financial reach of players while the affordable options commonly are sub-par in their performance.
