Teacher Bio
Mr. Mathis graduated from the Musician’s Institute with honors and then on to a solo career. . In 2001 Mr. Mathis made the move to Las Vegas and quickly earned the reputation as one of the best guitar teachers in the Valley. Ken has also been featured in Guitar Player Magazine for his innovative solutions for players. He formed the classic rock band Klass Act with much success and grew and grew his lesson studio. In 2009 Ken became the front man for his new band The Ken Mathis Band in order to release some of his well received original compositions. Mathis has headlined Fremont Street Experience, Lake Las Vegas, several festivals, and multiple venues in Las Vegas including the Strip. Mathis is qualified to teach performance, composition, recording, theory, and most styles of play from rock and blues to jazz and classical to name a few.

Ken is a gem of a teacher and his students and their parents love him! You will not often find his skill level combined with the ability to get in his student’s heads and quickly figure out how each student learns, is motivated, and how to get them to perform the best. Ken has a unique approach where the students learn songs incorporating the techniques rather than “go home and do this 100 times”. Ken genuinely cares about his students and is invested in their progress and the student personally. Ken has the latest equipment and technology and offers opportunities for his students to perform.
