Yanagisawa Soprano Saxes are handmade in Japan to the finest standards in the saxophone market. Their soprano saxes specifically are thought of by most as the best on the market. Yanagisawa sopranos are available in 3 different designs and various material options to help you achieve your soprano aspirations.
3 Model Styles
Yanagisawa Soprano Saxophones are available in 3 primary model styles:
- Solid One Piece Body, Keyed to High F#
- Dual Neck (with straight & curved necks), Keyed to High G
- Curved Soprano Sax, Keyed to High F#
3 Material Options
Each configuration is available in 3 different material options:
- Brass
- Bronze
- Solid Silver (& Brass/Silver combos on curved models)
Material Differences
The different materials have different performance characteristics to them helping players further refine their performance. Brass is the traditional material for saxophones that offers quick response. Bronze is a heavier alloy that helps produce a richer tone, but also increases resistance. Solid Silver is heavier than either brass or bronze, but decreases resistance further amplifying tone (& price!).
All Yanagisawa Sopranos are the “Elite Series”
Unlike the altos, tenors & baris, all of the soprano sax models in the WO Series feature the same heavier ribbed body construction and higher grade Pisoni Pro pads that are found on the “Elite Series” altos, tenors and baris. So the real difference in the models is configuration. The WO20 (curved & straight) as well as WO3x (curved & straight) models also use a larger diameter, metal resonator, whereas the brass and straight models all use a traditional nylon resonator.

One Piece Body Models
Unlike the other lower priced models in the Yanagisawa saxophones, the lower priced sopranos feature the same heavier “Ribbed Body Construction” used in the more expensive models to help produce as rich of a tonal core as possible on soprano. These models use a pure One Piece Body design (straight) and are keyed to High F#. Available in Brass, Bronze or Solid Silver.

Dual Neck, High G Models
The Yanagsiawa dual neck models come with both straight and curved necks as well as a high G key. The removable neck design gives the player more ergonomic flexibility as they can hold the soprano closer to the body while still maintaining proper mouthpiece embouchure angles.

SC99x – Fully Curved Body Models
The Yanagsiawa SC99x models are the only truly professional curved soprano saxophones on the market. Curved models are perfect for the player who needs to rely on a neck strap to help hold the horn due to the increased neck curvature of the SC99x models. Players will find that the curved models present a bigger sound to the player behind the horn due to the increased proximity to tone holes & the player’s ears. The curved model is also easier to use a microphone with than straight models.
