Affordable Student Performance

Vandoren is known worldwide for the performance, quality and value of their clarinet mouthpieces. However, quality commonly comes at a financial cost that can be prohibitive for student musicians. That is what the Juno line of products from Vandoren is all about – quality performance at an affordable price. Originally launched as a reed line, Vandoren is expanding it with the new Juno J5 Clarinet Mouthpiece. Still made in France by Vandoren, but in a shockingly high performance for it’s price point.

The Juno J5 Clarinet mouthpiece is being launched in one size option. The J5 has a similar tip opening to an M15 – coming in at a 1.00mm tip. This is paired with a medium facing for an easier articulation and response.

Material
The mouthpiece is made from a special “food-contact-certified” Acrylic material that meets the EN71-3 toy safety standard.

O-Rings instead of Cork
One of the cost saving aspects was to replace the traditional cork joint with 2 rubber o-rings placed into grooves in the mouthpiece. This has started to become a common trend in the industry, but usually found only on high end mouthpieces, not student priced models. The argument in favor of the o-rings is that they do lower production cost but also provide less absorption of the vibration of the mouthpiece than cork. So they tend to improve response. A pro-feature at a student-price!

Kessler & Sons Music offers a 3 day trial / return policy by default on the Vandoren Juno J5 Clarinet Mouthpiece. There are no cleaning fees or restocking fees (assuming that the item is returned in proper condition).

In order to protect the mouthpiece against scratches & marks when testing, we install a tooth patch before shipping. You are responsible for the condition of the mouthpiece while you are testing it. We highly recommend testing with a fabric style ligature to reduce the risk of scratching. Mouthpieces that are returned with irreparable scratches/marks might not be accepted for return.
